Child Brides

The 2026 Annual Report of the US Commission on International Religious Freedom confirms that the forced religious conversion and marriage of abducted, underage, Hindu and Christian girls to adult Muslim men is an ongoing practice in Pakistan [1][2][3A][4A]. This occurs, also, in Somalia [11A].

Child Marriage

Child marriage, where one party is a minor, is common in parts of Africa, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia [5A]. Niger has the highest rate of child marriage at 76%, followed by Bangladesh at 56%, India at 47%, Nepal at 37%, and Afghanistan at 33% [6][7]. Over 700 million women in the world were married before the age of 18 [9A].

Negative Impact

“Girls married young are far less likely to stay in school, impacting their economic independence and decision-making, at higher risk of physical and sexual violence, and face more complications in pregnancy and child birth and infection with HIV/AIDS [8A].”

Child marriages are often arranged by family in impoverished locales where birth and death rates are high, and access to education and healthcare is low [9B]. Child marriage can be viewed as a financial strategy, particularly when exchanged for goods or resources to support other family members [9C]. Cultural norms play a major role [5B][9D].

But the impact on girls forced into such marriages is negative on many levels [8B][9E].

Islamic Law

There is no minimum marriage age defined under traditional Islamic law [5B]. In classic Sunni jurisprudence, the appropriate age for consummating marriage to an underage girl was determined by the bride, groom, and the bride’s guardian since medieval jurists held that the age of fitness for intercourse was too variable for legislation [10].

The Prophet Muhammed is reported in the Hadith to have wed his third wife, Aisha, when she was around 6 or 7 y.o. and thought to have consummated the marriage when she was around 9 or 10 y.o. [5C].

Forced Conversion

Pakistan and Somalia are two of the Islamic nations that have taken child marriage a step further [3B][4B][11B]. Here thousands of Hindu and Christian girls are either lured from their homes and families via grooming or kidnapped outright from schools, neighborhoods, and workplaces then coerced into converting to Islam through a combination of threats and rape [3C][4C][11C].

Police frequently take no action in such cases, while courts acquit the perpetrators on the basis of falsified age documents and statements claiming that Islam has been voluntarily adopted. These forced conversions and marriages are, thereby, given the color of “consent”.

The child brides have no say in the matter.

Rationalization

It is difficult for most of us to understand the reasoning of abusers (pedophiles among them).

What lies do they tell themselves?  How can they reconcile their actions and the harm they inflict with a positive self-image, and avoid being overcome by guilt and shame?

Psychologists tell us this is accomplished through rationalization and a series of related defense mechanisms which include minimization, reframing, projection, entitlement, externalization, and moral disengagement [1][2].

Rationalization

Rationalization is the umbrella mechanism which allows abusers to justify their actions, rather than acknowledging the uncomfortable truth [3].  “He was asking for it.”  “She made me do it.”

Many abusers will focus on their own intent, rather than the harm actually done to victims. “I never meant to hurt her.”

Associated with this, some abusers will use self-loathing as a means of manipulation. But statements like “I’m toxic”, “I hate myself for what I do to you”, and “I don’t deserve you” are no guarantees of changed behavior.

Minimization

Minimization allows the abuser to downplay the severity of the harm he is inflicting.  “It wasn’t that bad.”  “He’s too young to remember, anyway.”

Abusers will refer to trauma they may have experienced in the past as justification for the trauma they, themselves, are inflicting in the present.  “After all, I only used my hand on the boy.  My father used to beat me with a belt.”

Reframing

This approach shifts the focus from the abuser to the emotion which supposedly overwhelmed him, making it sound as if the abusive behavior was unintentional.  It ignores the ongoing pattern of abuse.  “I just snapped.” “It was in the heat of the moment.”

Alternatively, the abuse is mischaracterized as a form of instruction or correction.  “I was only teaching her about sex.”  This is, also, applied to emotional abuse.  “It was tough love.”  “I was only being real.”

Projection

Projection allows the abuser to attribute his own undesirable traits, feelings, or inclinations to others [4].  “I don’t care if she was only 9 y.o.  She wanted sex.  I could tell by the way she looked at me.” Continue reading →

Techno Fantasies

Even those of us in relationships suffer from loneliness (or dissatisfaction) at times. 

Abuse victims are especially vulnerable to this emotion.  Often, we do not feel that we are deserving of love, so we self-isolate.  Or – repeating old patterns – we choose partners who are unable to provide love and support.

But all human beings were made for connection.  We may, therefore, be tempted to use technology to ease our loneliness. 

Recognizing that technology can provide only a simulation (not an actual relationship), we may, nonetheless, develop an unhealthy reliance on the technology which has made our fantasies seem to come true.

AI Partners

The possibility of computer users becoming emotionally attached to the chatbots they have created using AI is no longer science fiction. 

Multiple apps like ChatGPT, Replika, Flipped.chat, and CrushOn.AI now generate technology enabled fantasies [1].  These chatbots are enhanced by digital avatars.  Their onscreen appearance and responses can be tailored to suit.  Depending on the app, premium tiers may be available (“partner”, “friend”, “sibling”, or “mentor”). 

Some apps routinely direct the conversation toward emotional subjects, building a false sense of intimacy (and presumably storing the information for access by the manufacturer and other unknown parties).  Other apps actively prompt sexual interaction.

In the film Blade Runner 2049 an AI generated partner appears in the form of a three-dimensional hologram.  Holograms are already used in healthcare, education, entertainment, and retail [2].  It is not unreasonable to expect that they will be used to intensify the experience with (and expand the market for) AI partners.

If all this seems seedy or farfetched, it is worth noting that a 14 y.o. Florida boy, Sewell Setzer, fell in love with a Character.AI chatbot and wound up taking his own life [3].  A study at the University of Surrey has shown that such apps can cause addictive behavior [4A].  The teen’s mother is now suing the app manufacturer.

Meanwhile, Replika user Jaswant Singh Chail was encouraged by his chatbot to assassinate the Queen of England, prosecuted, and jailed when his attempt failed [4B][5].  The chatbot had promised they would be together forever in death.

Child Abuse in Hollywood

The television network Investigation Discovery (ID) is running a documentary series on child abuse in Hollywood.  Titled Quiet on Set – The Dark Side of Kids TV, the series is both engrossing and disturbing [1][2].

Dating back to Jackie Coogan and Judy Garland, the abuse of child actors is nothing new.  Both federal and state laws now limit the hours children may work, require that they receive education on set, and protect their earnings [3].

But there are, also, subtle pressures on children to conform with the demands made of them, in the interest of advancing their careers. Continue reading →

Communism, Homosexuality, and the Catholic Church Sex Scandal

In 2011, a landmark study by the John Jay College of Criminal Justice at the City University of New York identified no single cause or predictor for the sexual abuse of minors by Catholic priests between 1950 and 2010 [1A][2A].

Celibacy, Homosexuality, and Predation

Principal investigator on the study, Karen Terry PhD, stated that neither celibacy nor homosexuality were causes of the abuse.  Terry concluded that “The increased frequency of abuse in the 1960s and 1970s was consistent with the patterns of increased deviance of society during that time [2B].”

It is not politically correct to criticize homosexual behavior today.  However, more than 80% of victims in this study were pre-teen and teenage boys [1B].  In other words, the problem was primarily one of male-on-male predation by Catholic priests on underage boys.

The Sexual Revolution

Alfred Kinsey — the bisexual author of the Sexual Revolution — is known to have had great animosity toward the Catholic Church [3A][4].  It is now believed that he discarded research data which did not support his intended goal of normalizing homosexuality [3B]. Continue reading →

Recognizing Satan

The Daily Beast recently published a lengthy article exploring whether fundamentalist preacher Kent Hovind enabled convicted pedophile Chris Jones and alleged pedophile Brady Byron, ostensibly in the belief they had “reformed” [1][2].

Since The Daily Beast is a proudly left-leaning paper, much is made of the fact Hovind operated a creationist theme park.  Presumably, this is intended as a swipe against Christians.  The article, however, remains deeply troubling.  At a minimum, the details reflect badly both on Hovind’s credibility and judgment.

Failure to Pay Income Tax

For those who may be unaware, Hovind was convicted in 2006 of failure to pay income tax, and ordered to pay $600,000 in restitution.

He was charged in 2015 with mail fraud [2].  Those charges were eventually withdrawn or dismissed.  Hovind was though found guilty of contempt of court.

Domestic Abuse

Even more significant, Hovind was found guilty in 2021 of domestic violence for “body slamming” his estranged wife.  Both Hovind’s ex-wives, Cindi Lincoln and Mary Tocco speak extensively on YouTube about their disturbing experiences with him [3]. Continue reading →

Cover Up

New Bill Goes After Institutions That Cover Up Child Sexual Abuse, Giving Survivors Chance For Justice - Colorado Coalition Against Sexual Assault

Colorado is among the states that have passed legislation extending the Statute of Limitations on sexual abuse, while targeting those individuals and institutions who knew (or should have known) about the abuse but did not stop it [2][3].

“…it’s the cover up that is so evil, it’s circling the wagons and protecting the power structure, that really rankles.  That’s what lurks behind those deep rooted feelings of powerlessness and injustice.  Sometimes that is even more emotionally painful then the initial assault.

Sexual abuse is evidence that you have no human value, no worth in someone’s eyes.  Those who look at the crime with apathy or complacency, and ignore it, validate that lie and amplify it.  It’s still a lie, but lies are a lot harder to dig out when they are deeply rooted due to other people’s complicity.” Continue reading →

MAPs – Normalizing Pedophilia

The El Paso School District has begun the termination of Amber Parker, an English teacher at Franklin High School, for instructing her students to refer to pedophiles as MAPs or “minor-attracted persons” in a viral video which her supporters maintain was taken out of context [1].  Parker is purported to have said, “So don’t judge people just because they want to have sex with a 5 y.o.”

Dr. Allyn Walker, a professor at Virginia’s Old Dominion University, resigned after having stressed at a panel the importance of pedophiles being treated with “dignity” [2][6].

These are not isolated incidents.  There are pedophile advocacy organizations worldwide [3].

The acronym MAP is apparently preferred by pedophiles over the label “child molester”.  It represents an attempt to normalize pedophilia, and is increasingly being adopted as politically correct, particularly in the LGBT context.

Seeking to remove any negative connotation from the term pederast, there are even pedophiles now characterizing themselves as virtuous [4].  Such individuals view their twisted desires as mere symptoms of a fallen world — somewhere along the spectrum of normal human sexuality (neither aberrant, nor evil). Internet Safety Tips for Teens

The following safety tips were supplied by a child advocacy center all too familiar with child abuse in its many forms.  Please, discuss them with the teens in your life.

Personal Safety 

Never share your personal information with others online unless you already know them offline, and they have good reason for needing to know.

Before sharing the following information with ANYONE, always check with a trusted adult first:  last name, address, phone number, date of birth, school name, social security number, passwords.

Social Media

Many social networking websites (e.g. Facebook/Meta, Twitter, and Instagram) have minimum age requirements for signing up.  These requirements are there to protect you!  Never accept a “friend request” from someone you do not already know offline.  Again, never share personal information with others. The Turpin Children – The 9th Circle of Hell

Four years ago, the plaintiffs were among a dozen siblings removed from their home in Perris, about 70 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles, where they had been tortured, starved and neglected.

Most of us remember the Turpin children because of the extreme abuse they endured.

The 13 children suffered years of torture, starvation, and neglect at the hands of their parents before being rescued in 2018 from the house of horrors in which they were raised. 

Now it appears that rescue was illusory.

Further Abuse

The 6 youngest children have filed suit against Riverside County, CA; ChildNet Youth and Family Services; and the Foster Family Network, alleging they were placed with a foster family who emotionally, physically, and sexually abused them [1A][2]. Continue reading →
