Madigan Army Medical Center at  Joint-Base Lewis McChord in Washington State has been the site of more than one scandal.

In 2012 the hospital was accused of reversing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) diagnoses, in order to cut costs [1].  A nationwide inquiry was prompted [2].  In 2015, an operating room fire severely disfigured a toddler undergoing routine surgery [3].  A $12.3 million verdict resulted.

Now Major Michael Stockin, a 37 y.o. pain management anesthesiologist at Madigan, is charged with having sexually abused 42 male patients including combat veterans [4][6].

Stockin tried to cover up the abuse by claiming his “examination” of patients’ genitals was medically necessitated, even when the injuries he was supposed to treat involved the neck or shoulder.  Stockin has been relieved of duty, but currently retains his license.

Meanwhile, the men continue to grapple with their experience [5].  Trained as warriors, their feelings about the abuse have ranged from initial confusion and humiliation, to rage, shame, and self-recrimination.  Some fear retaliation.

It does not help that there is a stigma in the military associated with sexual assault.

  2. Liebe Anna, wie gut, dass Du so sorgfältig recherchierst und einiges ans Licht bringst, was sonst nicht bekannt würde. LG, M.

  3. Such horrors have no punishment severe enough.

  4. In an age of rampant sin and wickedness, there seems to be a spirit of lust that has enslaved mankind. That’s the only way I can think to describe this maddening addiction to sexual abuse the world has succumbed to.

    • In “The Return of the Gods” Jonathan Cahn speaks of the paganization of the United States, and the re-emergence of an ancient demon known as Ashtoreth/Ishtar/Aphrodite/Venus. This so called goddess undermines the biblical standards surrounding sex and sexuality, glorifies sex, destroys marriage, and fosters perversion.

In “The Hour that Changes Everything” Rick Pearson identifies the thousands of stripper poles in the United States today with the Ashtoreth poles (1 Kings 16: 33, 2 Kings 23: 13) erected in biblical times.

We are under spiritual attack, and blind to the fact.

  5. So sad, those who defend our country and freedoms don’t deserve that kind of treatment. It’s evil unleashed.

    Come, Lord Jesus, come quickly.
