An upcoming film The Sound of Freedom documents the efforts to free a young girl from human traffickers. The film stars Jim Caviezel, best known for his work in The Passion of the Christ.
The Sound of Freedom is based on the real life efforts of Tim Ballard to combat the trafficking of children. Ballard is a former Special Agent for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) [1]. He spent a dozen years as an undercover operative with the US Child Sex Tourism Jump Team.
Ballard’s non-profit Operation Underground Railroad (OUR) https://ourrescue.org in conjunction with governments and law enforcement has successfully rescued over 6000 children trafficked for purposes of sexual exploitation, slave labor, and involuntary organ harvesting.
But the fight to end human trafficking, and the enormous suffering it causes, goes on. Annual profits from trafficking are estimated at $150 billion [2]. They now far exceed those from illicit arms sales, and will soon exceed those from the global drug trade, if not already [3][4].

I realize the strong subject matter will not be to everyone’s taste. I hope though the film will prompt a response, at least from a few.

In my childhood, teens, and adulthood I was controlled by guys who treated me as their wife. I resisted and yet the memories return. Trafficking is tormenting. My pastor is patient and gentle in word. Victory and healing to all victims.

Praise God for men like Tim Ballard! And praise God for those ministry-workers who serve the escapees of the horrors you mention, teaching them skills and introducing them to a new way of life–with Jesus. I pray God raises up more, in light of the statistics you share, Anna.
